My Five Day Reset Experience with Shaklee

Hey friends!  So, I’ve been a little radio silent recently.  There are so many excuses reasons for this, but the simple truth is that I just wasn’t prioritizing this blog enough to get posts done.  That was okay for a bit, but I miss writing them, so I’m aiming for a minimum of one a week through the summer.  You can hold me accountable, okay?

Also, ever since we moved, my blogging wasn’t the only thing that went downhill.  My eating had also been pretty bad.  It started when we had to order take out several nights in a row because our dishes, pots, and pans were all packed up and unable to be located.  And then my girls got sick and my to do list each day was utterly laughable.  Of the twenty items I had listed, I maybe got through two or three.  You all know how that goes, I’m sure.  We get busy, and when we do, taking the time to prepare healthy meals and snacks can be a real challenge!

So when my friend Laura, who blogs at mentioned she was doing a five day smoothie reset, I asked if I could join.  I don’t usually do something drastic like eliminating meals in place of smoothies, but I really needed to get my eating habits back on track in a bad way.  The company sponsoring the reset was Shaklee, a company that I had heard of before, but didn’t know much about.  I ordered two different flavors of the Shaklee 180 protein powder and smoothie mixture and the vitalizer, a pack of vitamins to take each day as well.

Despite fully trusting Laura, I was a little skeptical at the start, so I did research the company a bit and combed through the ingredient list.  And I was pretty impressed with what I found.  Their are no artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives added.  And each serving has a whopping 16 grams of protein.  If you add a cup of milk to the powder, you’re at 24 grams of protein!  Now, I love a good smoothie here and there, but the problem I always had was that it only held me for an hour or two, and then I’d get snacky again (that’s a word, right?).  But not this time.  I often added milk, fruits, veggies, and greek yogurt to my smoothies, and with the Shaklee smoothie mixture, I would stay full for hours.  I’ve done clean eating resets before, and with enough willpower, I could always manage through the hunger pangs and sugar cravings that would inevitably hit me, but during these five days, those were virtually nonexistent.  And the even more impressive part is that my body quickly (within two days) began to crave real, healthy foods again.  I actually wanted carrots and hummus intsead of a bowl of ice cream.  What!?  Who am I?  But I felt really, really good.  Also, as an added bonus, I lost two pounds during that five day period, and it hasn’t come back yet.

I loved it so much that I am planning to continue to have one smoothie a day, not because I need to continue losing weight but because I feel so very good when I’m eating (drinking?) them.  Anyway, I feel like I could go on for a LONG time about my experience.  I’m not usually one to jump on a bandwagon so quickly; I’m a skeptic by nature.  But this company is amazing, has been around for a long time, and from what I can tell, has always operated with honesty and integrity.  So yeah, I’m a fan.  Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about the company or the MANY products they sell.  I’m just learning myself, but I’d be happy to tell you more about my experience.  You can reach me at
