Hello everyone! Are you back into a more normal routine today? My older daughter is back in school and while I sure to do miss her, it’s really nice having a bit more peace and quiet again!
After a fairly indulgent couple of weeks with regards to eating and sugar consumption, I am kicking off a 21 day reset today, avoiding sugars and alcohol as much as possible and also cutting back significantly on dairy. So what’s left? Lots of fruits and veggies, eggs, nuts and nut butters, some gluten free grains, and after a few days, meats.
It’s funny. I know how to to do this. I know what I should eat, and I know what foods make me feel best and which ones make me sluggish and bloated, even grumpy. And yet, I find myself eating the bad foods time and time again. Sugar addictions are very real, my friends! Here’s hoping to a healthier start to 2015. I’ll try to report more on exactly what I’m eating and how I’m feeling this week in case you’re interested!
Here’s the workouts from this past week:
M – 60 minute strength training class + 3 mile run
T – OFF
W – 4 mile Wolverine Resolution Race
Th – 60 minute kickboxing class
F – OFF
Sa – 60 minute strength training class + 60 minute kickboxing class
Su – 3 mile run
Saturday’s classes were killer! I did so many push ups, many with offset grips, and I am still sore today.
Here are some random things I’ve been loving this past week:
- Running clients. I have three now, each with different goals, and I simply LOVE making training and racing plans for them. I can’t wait to watch them achieve their goals; I have no doubt they will!
- Football. I’m a fan, and there were some awesome bowl games this year. My beloved Steelers went down in their playoff game yesterday (fortunately for my husband, we had friends over so I took the loss much better than usual), but I still love to watch good football games!
- This paleo friendly sausage egg mcmuffin. I’ve been eating it and it keeps me happy and full until lunch + it is reset friendly for the upcoming weeks!
- Learning more about Starbucks drinks. Maybe you already know this, but when you get any of the “specialty” drinks made at Starbucks, they are always loaded with flavors and sugars. However, you can absolutely ask them to customize it by decreasing the number of “pumps” of a flavor. For example, in a tall peppermint mocha, they put in four pumps of peppermint syrup. I ordered one, but asked for one pump, and it was still plenty sweet for me! This rocked my world this week, but maybe I’m a little behind on this one…
Happy Monday! Hope your week is off to a terrific start!
